The Religious Education Committee
The Religious Education Committee works closely with the Director of Religious Education to develop, produce, and promote programs for children and families at FUSF.
In 2021 the Religious Education Committee met to articulate a clear purpose, mission, and vision statement for our children and family programs. The complete text is on the Faith Development: Children and Youth page, but I’d like to re-state the purpose here:
“To be the loving chalice from which the flames of this community’s children may shine, that they may be seen, supported, and celebrated.”
The most important thing for the committee was that every child feel that they have a loving, supportive community at FUSF. So part of our work as a committee is to give the larger community opportunites to be that for the children and the families.
Other work includes:
- Helping to plan and host events like family apple picking and ice skating.
- Reaching out to check in with families who are new or who may need support; just being there for our families and kids.
- Working to recruit teachers, serving as teachers, and being back-up support for programs.
The Committee meets monthly, usually on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, in a hybrid format: at the Meetinghouse and with Zoom; please check the church calendar for our upcoming meetings. All are welcome to join us! For more information, please reach out to the Director of Religious Education, at dre@fusf.org.
