This is an exciting time for FUSF. We are hopefully close to calling a new minister. Unlike a traditional search for a settled minister, as we pursued last year, this search is for a two-year Contract-to-Call minister. In this case, the Board enters into a contract with the Minister, with the ultimate goal for the congregation to formally call them as our settled Minister prior to the end of the two-year contract. During FUSF’s worship service on Sunday, April 12, we will have a child dedication. Often children are dedicated as babies, when adopted, or when their family is new to being Unitarian Universalist. What is a Child Dedication? Many Unitarian Universalist congregations hold child dedication ceremonies for infants and children. They are a part of the worship service in which the infant/child(ren) are blessed and the congregation promises to support and nurture the child. What
I started coming to FUSF in the mid 90’s and signed the Membership Book in 1997. I’m a long-time member, but I didn’t come easy at first. I grew up Catholic and went to St Bonaventure University, a Franciscan Catholic University where I had a great experience. But something was always off for me from a religious and spiritual perspective. As I aged, I plodded on with my Catholic traditions; it was what I knew.
