During FUSF’s worship service on Sunday, April 12, we will have a child dedication. Often children are dedicated as babies, when adopted, or when their family is new to being Unitarian Universalist.
What is a Child Dedication? Many Unitarian Universalist congregations hold child dedication ceremonies for infants and children. They are a part of the worship service in which the infant/child(ren) are blessed and the congregation promises to support and nurture the child.
What will it look like? During the child dedication portion of the worship service, the children and their families will come forward together. Rev. Bev and DRE Sara will lead a responsive reading, to which the families and congregation will answer with something like “I promise.” Last year, Rev. Bev dipped a rose bud in water then touched it to each child’s forehead, heart, and hands while saying a blessing.
Please contact Rev. Bev (minister@fusf.org) or Sara Allegretti (dre@fusf.org) if you have questions or if you would like your child dedicated on April 12th or in the future.
