December 2024
Sunday, December 1: Meeting inside, all together
Children will join their teachers for an outside class following the “Time for All Ages” portion of the worship service today. Children 5 and younger may begin in the Nest Nursery, which is open from 9:30 am – 11:30 am.
Explore the FUSF Children’s Library with Bobbi and Pat. Complete a scavenger hunt in the library and read a book with a book buddy.
Sunday, December 8: Meeting in age based classes
Grades K – 5 will meet inside will meet inside and have their fifth lesson of the LEGO Valuues curriculum. The theme will be Generosity in Community. That will reflect on how we create a community when everyone shares something by revisiting the story of Stone Soup. The children will have a choice of activities: building a rainbow LEGO tower together, playing Stone Soup with the doll house, or playing Stone Soup with toy food, dishes, and a pot.
Grades 6 – 8 will meet inside and outside and have their fifth lesson of the UU Values Challenge. They will reflect on the value of Justice and think about what it means to “get in the circle together”. They will play multiple games with Hula Hoops that involve teamwork, listening to one another, and actually being in the circle together. Jingle Bells Skit Practice – Three or more teens will run through the Jingle Bells skit for next week’s Intergenerational Service
Sunday, December 15: Jingle Bells Intergenerational Service
No Religious Education classes. The nursery will be open.
Children and teens who attend will be invited to help ring jingle bells at certain times during the service. The Children’s Choir will sing Jingle Bells once on their own and once with the Universal Singers. No practice is required to be a part of the Children’s Choir, children and teens may join in the singing as they feel comfortable.
Sunday, December 22: Meeting in age based classes
Grades K – 5 will meet inside and have their sixth lesson of the LEGO Valuues curriculum. The theme will be Generosity for the Individual. That will reflect on how generosity isn’t alway easy.. The children will have a choice of activities: working together to build a zipline course for LEGO people, making a card or picture to give away, or playing Go Fish.
Grades 6 – 8 will meet inside and outside and have their sixth lesson of the UU Values Challenge. They will reflect on the value of transformation and think about what it means to create together. They will play multiple games including: an acting game called “What are you doing?”, flip the Flying Carpet, and will think about building each other up while building the highest possible tower out of 20 sheets of paper.
Sunday, December 29 – All Ages Circle
CIrcle plan TBD. The nursery will be open.
