Greetings to FUSF Members and Friends. This is Jay Rafferty, your Stewardship Chair. I joined First Universalist Society in Franklin (FUSF) about ten years ago after numerous experiences convinced me that FUSF was my community and would be the spiritual home for my wife Cindy and me. I have particularly enjoyed being a part of FUSF’s vibrant musical community and we have always appreciated the chance to relax during the annual retreats up to Ferry Beach. Three years ago, I joined the Stewardship committee and have led the team during the past two years.  Despite this being a time of transition for the congregation, we saw an increase in the total amount of pledges during our last Stewardship campaign and have added new pledging members in the time since.  Other signs of renewed energy at FUSF during this latest church year have included increasing attendance at services and several popular new events, including effective fund raisers.

We are now at an important juncture as we move ahead to our next stage.  The theme for this year’s Stewardship Campaign is “It is Time Now.” In the past two years, guided by our interim minister, Reverend Bev Waring, we have shared our feelings about FUSF and are exploring a vision for what we want FUSF to become. We have supported each other to build a strong spiritual community, welcomed many visitors and new members to our community and participated in numerous activities where we engage with the broader community beyond FUSF.   It is Time Now to build anew, pursue our dreams and fund an expanded budget which will enable FUSF to initiate a search for a settled minister. To be successful, we need the talents, treasure, and energy of all of our members and friends. We ask you to support FUSF by making as generous a pledge as your circumstances allow. Pledges are the major component for funding all items in the budget including our denominational support. Our annual stewardship campaign will end on March 29, 2024, and your early response will help us plan ahead for the 2024-2025 church year.

Your generosity is much appreciated.  It is Time Now to step into our exciting collective future here at FUSF.

It is Time Now to . . .

  • Build on the loving FUSF Community that is our spiritual home.
  • Determine the direction of Change that is needed and proceed on a path of Sustainable Growth.
  • Fund the search for the best-for-us settled minister to lead our congregation into the future.
  • Meet our pledge target of $322,000.
  • Continue combining our resources to achieve our goals and make a difference in our community and the world.

Your pledge is important and will be gratefully received.

In Gratitude,

The FUSF Stewardship Team

What’s Ahead

FUSF has made excellent progress in this time of transition. Reverend Bev Waring has committed to a third year with us and is collaborating with the congregation to prepare the way to hire a settled minister. Our experienced and nimble Board of Trustees provides leadership and supports the work of our FUSF committees.

Michele Kelly offers outstanding musical talent and leadership, and Diana Tesni is an energetic Director of Religious Education who inspires the children and the young at heart in our congregation.

Together, we have found our way forward during a time of many challenges. We continue to appreciate the time, treasure, talents, and generosity of everybody within our congregation.
