The Food Justice Team is dedicated to increasing awareness about the continued rise in food insecurity, ethical food consumption and production, and reduction of food waste.

In partnership with The Franklin Food Pantry, this group works to:

  • reduce food insecurity
  • advocate for legislation that impacts food insecurity or food waste
  • create a community where everyone has enough nutritious food and the resources to be self-sufficient
  • raise money and collect goods for the Franklin Food Pantry which serves our neighbors in need.

The Food Justice Team organizes and runs the FELLOWSHIP CAFE. The team and volunteers work collaboratively to offer a snack and beverage to those seeking fellowship and conversation after each Sunday service.

The Fellowship Cafe strives to be “green,” by avoiding disposable products, freezing leftovers, and composting waste. Please consider volunteering to bake or help clean up after service (it’s only an hour) and in the process meet new friends. You may look in the FUSF E-Messenger for the Sign-Up Genius.

The Food Justice Team meets via Zoom at 7:30 on the second Thursday of the month.  Interested in joining? All are welcome. Contact Vicki Coates at vicki.coates@fusf.org.
