Path of Peace Sangha – Practicing in the Tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh

Engaged Buddhism was introduced by Vietnamese Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, during the Vietnam War. Its purpose is to take meditation practice into the world, in order to alleviate pain and suffering. The Five Mindfulness Trainings, which are part of the Buddha’s teachings, are the basis for the practice.

The Path of Peace Sangha supports participants in their practice of mindfulness in order to help reduce suffering while increasing joy, harmony, and peace in one’s self, the community, and the world. Each week there is an opportunity to practice sitting meditation, walking meditation, and dharma sharing.

You do not have to be a Buddhist or a member of FUSF to attend. Many people continue to participate in other religious traditions. All are welcome. The Path of Peace Sangha meets every Monday from 7-8:30 pm. The 2nd Monday of the month is in-person at the Meetinghouse; all other weeks of the month are virtual on Zoom (email sangha@fusf.org for the Zoom link).
