Join us as our guest preacher, Joe Jencks, musician and UU lay preacher, explores some ideas from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s childhood, and how these ideas relate to our lives in the present. The tacit invitation in King’s own vision was to reject the potential toxicity of nostalgia, and to see that we have not only the opportunity but the obligation to help build a different future. Joe will consider how—in our individual relationships, in our families and workplace, in our spiritual communities, and in our civic society—we make the soil ready for the seeds of change. Through music, narrative, and ideas about meaningful growth, Joe Jencks weaves a hopeful tapestry of thoughts and invites us into both reflection and action.
Joe Jencks is an international touring musician, songwriter, performer, and UU lay preacher. You can also enjoy Joe’s music at First Universalist Society in Franklin on Saturday evening at the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse.
