All Stories Must Be Heard

The attempts to ban books is not new but does feel more and more threatening as a way to erase whole segments of our population. From books critical of the Puritans to Uncle Tom’s Cabin, published by Unitarian Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1858; from Dr. Seuss to all comic books, from Harry Potter to Tango Makes Three, the list and reasons for banning books is increasing exponentially in an attempt to rewrite history.

Join us Sunday as we explore this form of censorship and then defy it by participating in a book communion. All are invited to bring at least one book (and no more than three) that they would like to offer to others. This may be on the banned book list – from long ago or more recently – or it might just be a book that you think others would love to read. During and after the service all will have an opportunity to choose a book to take home with them.
