Our shared values include a promise: to create and nurture sustainable relationships of care and respect, mutuality and justice. We usually hear “sustainable” as a word about the earth. But what would it mean for a relationship to be sustainable — for our care of one another to be something that could last, rather than something that runs us dry? As we close our month with interdependence, we turn to the ordinary work of tending: feeding what is hungry, protecting what is young, and learning what a place asks of us.
