A New Year of Music

It is wonderful to be back in the Meeting House for what promises to be an exciting year! As we search for a new minister, I think the love of music so many of us share will be evident to anyone who is considering being our settled minister!

I have heard from some congregants that they have often thought about joining the choir but weren’t sure what was involved. The Universal Singers meet twice weekly;  Sunday mornings at 8:30 am and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. There are several members who cannot consistently make the Wednesday evening rehearsals, so they use the practice tracks I provide at home and try not to miss any Sunday rehearsals.

If you would like to try us out for a one-time commitment, consider joining us for the Chestnut Street Revue which will be held on November 9th. You would need to attend a few rehearsals and will have access to the practice tracks to help as well.

You can also join the Franklin Interfaith choir for the Thanksgiving service on November 24th at 7:00 pm which will be held at FUSF this year. As the name suggests, singers from several faith traditions in Franklin join their voices under the direction of Mary Diehl from the LDS church. I will be accompanying the choir and will provide music for the rest of the service as well.

Another way to get involved in the music program is to play an instrument either in a small group or solo.  Perhaps you once played the clarinet or trumpet and were thinking of dusting it off and playing again?  That is how several of the musicians you have heard in the worship services got their “start” playing at FUSF. As always, please feel free to contact me at musicdirector@fusf.org about anything music-related!

Musically,

Michele
