Next time you are walking into the meetinghouse, stop and look left – you will see a new Peace Pole! This new pole was generously gifted to the congregation by Bobbi and Dave Gerlits and installed last week with help from the Asset Team.
The Peace Pole has been a focal point in the Peace Garden at First Universalist Society in Franklin (FUSF) since 2008. The new peace pole is aluminum and replaces the original cedar pole, which was beyond repair. Eight languages are etched into FUSF’s Peace Pole. The original pole, and this new pole, were planted so that each of its four sides aligned to one of the four compass points.
