Personal encounters have been known to shape ideas, change lives and transform institutions. The wider and more diverse those personal relationships are the wider and more expansive we are likely to grow up to be. Studies of encounters that change lives have uncovered patterns we may find useful as we think about our own growth and development as individuals and as a congregation.
