You have entered FUSF’s Peace Garden located near the entrance to our meetinghouse. Here, a peace pole and its nearby bench offer us not only a place to relax under the birch trees, but a reminder of our ongoing mission for peace. Growing native plants is essential for supporting pollinators and birds. Our community started this native plant garden in 2024 to help create a sustainable, natural environment on our meetinghouse grounds.

Nestled among the garden is our Peace Pole. The Peace Pole has been a focal point in the Peace Garden at First Universalist Society in Franklin since 2008. Peace poles are a universal symbol dedicated as monuments to peace. Roughly 200 countries contain peace poles, with more than 200,000 planted around the world. Each peace pole contains the words “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in various languages on the sides of the peace pole. The pole is oriented so that each of its four sides align with one of the four compass points. Turn around and walk across the front of the building, heading down the gravel pathway.
