We are pleased to announce our Summer Sunday Worship Series each week from June 28th through August 30th. Please note: there is no service on July 5. Please join us each Sunday as lay leaders explore the theme of Choosing Hope, and learn about practices, places, and texts that sustain us. All services start at 10:00 am. Afterwards, we invite you to stay for cookies and conversation.
June 28: What does hope mean to you? Where do you find hope? As we kick off summer with the first service of our Choosing Hope worship series, join the conversation as lay leaders and FUSF members, Mary Dennis and Donna Williams, lead a lively discussion on hope.
July 5: NO SERVICE
July 12: Hope & The Beloved Community. Denise Nobel will explore how hope can enable us to build the Beloved Community we so desperately long for. Rather than focusing on global problems, we will center our discussion on smaller, everyday actions. Whether you call it Radical Hospitality, Finding Paradise, or Building Beloved Community, each of us has a part to play in our daily interactions. Parts of the service will be interactive, so please join us as we exercise our “hope muscles” together!
July 19: Sustaining Hope in the Wake of Mental Health Concerns for Loved Ones. Mental health challenges impact not only the diagnosed individual but those who love and care for them as well. What role does hope play in helping one face the challenges of a mental health diagnosis and treatment? Join Barbara Ford Geiger, LICSW, as she discusses the importance of sustaining hope under the difficult circumstances of coping with mental health issues in loved ones.
July 26: The Resilience of Hope. From ancient myths to modern stories, hope is always waiting for us when we need it. With layl leader Evelyn Rossing, let’s look at different experiences of the resilience of hope.
Check back here soon for more information about August services!
