Michele’s Musical Notes ♫

As we enter year three of this pandemic, I have spent time thinking about how much my role of Music Director has changed from when I was first hired. Some of my duties remain the same:  scheduling pianists, finding special music singers/instrumentalists, and working with the choir, though one that is much reduced in size. However, I can now add many technical skills to my musical bag of tricks which will come in useful moving forward, I’m sure. However, I look forward to a time when I can spend more time working with singers and less time editing google documents and slides!

I am allowing myself to become cautiously optimistic that we will soon be able to gather in the meeting house in the near future.  FUSF is not the same without people in the chairs, children running about, and many voices singing together (not to mention the food and friendship at coffee hour!)  I look forward to seeing your faces in the coming weeks as I look out from the piano. Playing to an empty house is an odd and lonely experience.

As we move forward safely and cautiously, let us keep the faith, stay and stay positive as we build upon all the good things we have created at FUSF. And don’t forget to sing!
