Many of you attended the workshop with Keith Kron, UUA Director of Transitions on March 13. Keith went over the process of choosing a transitional minister and the emotions that can come up with the change. If you have not heard his presentation, click on the link below. When you click on the link it will open and at the top you can click on “open with” and choose “Music Player for Google Drive”. He begins his talk about 1 minute in.
Other activities are happening behind the scenes. The board has held one special meeting and plans to hold another on April 5th to complete the application for interim minister and tally the results of the interim minister survey. We have scheduled a meeting with the compensation consultant for Ballou Channing District. She will help answer the salary and benefits (health insurance, pension, vacation etc) questions we have regarding the interim. The deadline for the application is April 22. The UUA will give us names of interested interim ministers on May 9. The board task force will review their qualifications and interview them and make a decision by May 20. The interim minister will be announced to the congregation as soon as we learn that our chosen candidate has accepted the position. Phew! It is a quick but very organized process.
Here is the link to the UUA site on Interim Ministry.
If you have any thoughts or questions about the interim hiring process you can also contact one of your board members.
Other very important dates are June 5 and June 12. Our annual meeting in June 5. At this meeting, among other things, the congregation will vote on conferring Carol with the honorary title of Minister Emerita. This will be a wonderful moment and experience for all as we thank Carol for her dedication and service to FUSF. The retirement grand celebration will be the following Sunday, June 12. You won’t want to miss these events so Save the Dates!
