First Universalist Society in Franklin

Plate Giveaway – Dec 2014

Monthly Plate Giveaway

On the first Sunday each month, the First Universalist Society of Franklin donates the entire proceeds from that service’s collection to a local charity.  The recipient charity groups are chosen by the Board of Trustees, with input from FUSF committees and teams.

December 2014 Plate Offering

December’s First Sunday Plate Offering will be donated to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans. The NECHV is dedicated to ending homelessness for our nation’s veterans. Located at 17 Court St., the downtown Boston facility contains 59 affordable apartments, a distinct and separate 17-bed female veterans’ transitional dormitory, and over 300 transitional and emergency beds.

More than 350 veterans reside there every night. Each year, NECHV serves more than 130,000 resident meals. 1000 vets complete NECHV vocational training programs each year. More than 400 veterans find permanent homes through NECHV each year. For more information, please visit:

If you have a suggestion for an organization that you feel represents our UU values, is a 501 C(3) non-profit organization, and is local, please let us know. Submit it here, or tell a Board member. Suggested organizations will be reviewed and then voted on. Once an organization is selected, the person who suggested it will write up a short description for that month’s newsletter and give a very brief description during the service.
