September 28 Triple Helix - the Piano Trio Triple Helix
This ensemble has become known as one of the best piano trios on today's musical landscape: violinist Bayla Keyes, cellist Rhonda Rider, and pianist Lois Shapiro. The Boston Globe said they presented "the livest live music in town," with "wildly imaginative, emotionally charged, virtuoso playing." In their program, "Embracing the Romantic Spirit: Music of the Schumanns and Brahmns," the trio invites the audience into the post-Enlightenment world, a world where the arts became suffused with intensely personal expressions. Through intimate letters, diary entries, and music which itself reveals the composers' deepest feelings, the trio will bring listeners into the heart of this richly imaginative time. The Los Angeles Times noted, "Triple Helix is clearly something special." LiveARTS is privileged to host these nationally-acclaimed players, who are also artists-in-residence at Wellesley College.

November 16 Haldan Martinson, violinist
and Sally Pinkas, piano
Haldan Martinson Sally Pinkas
Prepare to be riveted by this dynamic team - two of New England's bright lights - as they collaborate on Schoenberg's Phantasy (Opus 47) and sonatas by Schumann (No. 2) and Bartok (No. 2). Mr. Martinson, principal second violinist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 2000, is sure to delight as he and Ms. Pinkas, renowned chamber music expert and professor of music at Dartmouth College, throw themselves full-bore into this demanding repertoire.

February 1 The Arlington Street
Chamber Players
The Arlington Street Chamber Players
This outstanding Boston-based woodwind quintet returns to our stage to present, according to its flutist Linda Bento-Rei, an "innovative and eclectic" program that will no doubt illuminate for listeners the unique characteristics of this type of ensemble. Unlike the string quartet with its homogeneous blend of color, the wind quintet - made up of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn - offers five very different timbres, each vying for attention, yet managing to combine in kaleidoscopic unity.
March 22 Dana Muller and
Gary Steigerwalt, duo pianists
Dana Muller and Gary Steigerwalt
LiveARTS is honored to feature this delightful husband-and-wife team from South Hadley, Mass., where Dr. Steigerwalt is on the music faculty of Mount Holyoke College. They have performed four-hand piano repertoire for over twenty years, creating programs that encompass the historical and stylistic range of the genre. They have appeared in concert extensively in the Northeast, Southeast and Southwest United States, as well as in Scotland, Argentina, and Bolivia. Their recording of four-hand works by early twentieth-century European composers (on Centaur) was hailed "an outstanding disc" by Fanfare. Excerpts from their two Schubert discs (also on Centaur) can be heard in the critically- acclaimed movie "Good Will Hunting." Their program features Schubert's Rondo in D Major, works by Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn, Ravel's Rapsodie Espagnole, and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
Tickets at the door are $15 for adults, $10 for youth and seniors: $25 for a family of three or more. Season subscriptions are $45/$30/$75 (4 concerts for the price of 3). Enjoy our famous intermission desserts!
