December 2016 Update

The FUSF Transition Team continues to work closely with Interim Minister Jenny Rankin to help the congregation accomplish the 5 interim goals as noted below. While they were identified in our last newsletter, they are well worth keeping fresh as we continue the process of selecting our next settled Minister.

∙ claiming and honoring its past and engaging and honoring its griefs andconflicts

∙ recognizing its unique identity and its strengths, needs, and challenges
∙ clarifying the appropriate leadership roles of minister(s), church staff, and lay leaders and navigating the shifts in leadership that may accompany times of transition
∙ making appropriate use of regional, UUA, and other outside resources
∙ proudly coming into possession of a renewed vision and strong stewardship, prepared for new growth and new professional leadership, ready to embrace the future with anticipation and zest.

Our Listening Circles are winding down, with just a couple of sessions left. More than 90 people have already attended a session! We look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible.

The Transition Team is beginning the process of collating and organizing the wealth of information you have shared. We are having a half day “retreat” early in January to do the bulk of this work. We anticipate presenting our findings to congregation at the end of January.

While we are still in the early phases of our transition, it is clear that collectively our congregation possesses the wisdom and the insight required to achieve a great end result. Now is the time to keep the energy and momentum flowing:

“I’ve always believed there are moments in our lives which can be defined as a transition between the before and after, between the cause and the effect.”
Benjamin X. Wretlind

We want to hear from you! So, please also feel free to speak with any member of your Transition Team. We are the folks wearing the yellow name tags on Sunday morning:
