Congregational Relations Update

Members: Jim Hill, Susan Dubinsky, Ed Geiger, Gail Chirdon, Pat Morse and Jim Kennedy

The members of the Congregational Relation Committee are in the process of planning a “Right Relations” Sunday Service for January 22, 2017 and a Congregational Meeting after the service of Sunday, January 29, 2017. The ultimate purpose of these events is to introduce a “model covenant of right relations” to the congregation for a discussion and a vote.

In these times of transition and polarization, it is time to revisit how we as congregants interact with each other, and those outside of FUSF.  As FUSF has grown over the years to about 230 members, it has become more and more challenging for us to identify sources of conflict, to communicate clearly and effectively, and to address conflict in the best and most constructive ways.

As a UU congregation, we do not stand alone with these challenges as eight congregations attending a recent UUA workshop on the subject, identified identical challenges as ours. The members of our Congregational Relations Committee will be sharing information with you in the weeks to come. We also look forward to hearing your input and ideas. In the meantime, stay positive and may peace be with you.
