Announcements for April 23, 2017
At 11:30 a.m. we are honored to welcome Chaplain Clementina (Tina) Chery, the founder, President, and CEO of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute who will speak on the work of the Peace Institute. With over two decades of experience as a survivor serving families impacted by murder, Chaplain Chéry has developed the best practices in the field of homicide response. Her ultimate goal is to transform society’s response to homicide so that all families are treated with dignity and compassion, regardless of the circumstances. All are welcome!
*Mother’s Day Walk for Peace – A team from FUSF is walking on May 14 – please consider joining us! Yes, it’s a long walk – 6.8 miles – but for a very important cause – peace & justice. Our team’s goal is $1000. For the next few weeks a container will be available on the side table for checks (Make out to “Mother’ Day Walk for Peace”) and cash donations. If you are tech savvy you can go to the website (in this month’s newsletter) and go directly to our FUSF team page to make sure your donation is credited to us. See Rev. Ann Willever for more information.
*On Sunday, May 7th, 1:30-4:30, FUSF will have its first annual Cinco de Mayo Party. Your friendly FUSF Fundraising team will provide a taco bar, festive music and games for the whole family, Mexican Loteria ard game (like Bingo), jumpting bean game, maracas making, how meany beans in the jar, 50/50 raffle, and maybe more, weather permitting. Tickets are on sale at the coffee table after service. Adults: $15, Kids: $5, Family: $35. Of course this is a fundraiser so you can donate more if you’d like to! Bring the family and your favorite Mexican dish! Feliz Cinco de Mayo, amigos!
*Please be sure to turn off your cell phones as you enter the sanctuary so as not to disturb the worship service.
* There will be a special congregational meeting on May 7th at 11:30 a.m. to vote on the members of the ministerial search committee and to discuss pledge campaign results. More info to come.
*Our Spring Grounds clean up will take place Sat, Apr 29th, beginning at 9 a.m. This is a great opportunity to make new friends, to catch up with old friends, and to “plug in” and take ownership. All skill levels are welcome. Bring your favorite work gloves, lawn and garden tools, etc. Coffee, water and snacks will be available. Please contact Mark Stankard, Asset Committee, firstname.lastname@example.org, to let him know if you are coming.
*Next Sunday, Critical Mass will lead our worship service. Visioning circles will take place following the service at 11:30 – please sign up at the side table if you have not yet done so.
