Important Congregational Meeting in January and Ministerial Search Begins
President’s Message By Lea MacNider
As I write this, we have just celebrated Christmas, the longest night has passed and we are getting ready to celebrate the coming of a new year. Now that the darkest days of winter are behind us, slowly we will once again turn toward the light. Mark your calendars for an important congregational meeting that will be held after service on Sunday, January 29.
Think of this as a mid-year annual meeting with four important items on the docket. Item one, the Congregational Relations team will be presenting their draft of a right relations covenant. This will be sent out prior to the meeting for everyone to read and we will vote on it at this meeting. A covenant of right relations is a set of promises to one another about how we want to be in community. It is an expression of our values and a promise to practice them. Please read it prior to the meeting.
Second on the agenda is the Interim period goal plan developed by the Board of Trustees. The plan that we have been calling “the two year plan”, addresses the financial and organization needs of the congregation as we prepare for hiring a new minister.
Next the Transition Team will present their findings from the listening circles and last will be the Stewardship Team with information on our upcoming pledge drive. This is a packed agenda to fit into a 90 minute meeting so all teams will be available afterwards to talk in greater depth and answer any additional questions you might have.
On February 12, our UUA Ministerial Search Representative, Lisa Anderson will deliver the sermon followed by an informational session on the ministerial search. She will present best practices for search committee member selection and the search process. This is the first step in the process. More information will come as details are finalized. I hope everyone will participate in this important meeting. The next board meeting is Tuesday, January 10. All are welcome. 2017 will be an exciting year for our congregation.
I look forwarded to traveling this journey together. … Lea
